It’s the start of the 4th full week of the new school year. Things are humming along on both campuses and HVPTO is looking ahead to a full schedule of fun coming up in October and beyond. Now that our lunch-making skills are back at full-strength and homework/practice schedules are in place, we’re taking a sec to look around for volunteers to help us make all of our events & activities successful.
We always say, “Great events don’t just happen – we need awesome people to make them happen!” and that’s the truth. HVPTO‘s main objectives are to help create special memories for our HVS students and families and to support our teachers and staff. Things like the Halloween Carnival, Pumpkin Carving Contest, RAA Guest Reader Program, Son Fun & Daughter Dance Events, 8th Grade Graduation Reception & Dance, and end-of-the-year Field/Beach/Pizza Party Days for all students are just a slice of the activities HVPTO supports throughout the year.
- Raise Your Hand – We have openings, large and small, for events and activities this year. Halloween Carnival still has spots to fill to make for a spooky night for all. Things like Raffle Prize Distribution and Game Prize Redemption both need some help this year. And events later in the year, like the Son Fun Event and Middle School Pizza Party, need leaders.
- We Want to Hold Your Hand – We have lots of openings that are filled this year but need someone to Shadow this year’s volunteer to learn the ropes and take over next year. This is an excellent way to ensure that you get the know-how before having to do anything. The Halloween Carnival Food Court Team has their jobs figured out and are ready to pass their experience along. Shadow them this year to see how they make it all happen and a new team can easily follow their steps next year. We have Book Fairs that needs a Shadow this year as well.
- Too Much Time on Your Hands – We know you’re out there, you super-organized parents, and there will be Board positions to fill next year as current parents graduate out of the HVS family or are ready to pass along the reins. Come talk to us if this sounds like something you would be interested in.
We are always looking for people with special skills like photography, graphic arts, coding skills, and even a CPA to perform our financial review. If you think you have something to offer we will find a place for your help!
Please join us on Thursday, September 28th, 7:45 – 9:00 am at Hermosa View. Valley parents, we would love to see you all too. Come by, see if anything looks interesting, ask us questions or just have a cup of coffee and relax.
